The role of the Area Director is to assist the chapters in promoting civic, educational, and intercultural activities that will enrich their communities, and to unite the chapters within a geographical area to accomplish the goals of the National organization through the exchange of ideas, methods, and techniques to implement the National program.

Lorna is Executive Director for The National Kidney Foundation serving Southeast Texas. A nationally-recognized nonprofit executive, she has also served as Executive Director for The Sickle Cell Association of the Texas Gulf Coast. She was a jury consultant, owning her own firm, JuryView, Incorporated. She has published articles in legal and communications trade magazines on effective communications and persuasion techniques. A Certified Mediator who has worked with corporate, governmental and education clients, Lorna is a graduate of UCLA.

As Vice Chair, Pediatric Radiology at Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach, California, Karen is a physician, also trained in records capturing, data archiving and reporting. She holds both an MBA and MPH, and is a graduate of the Scott Hawkins Leadership Institute – Cohort II. She is most proud of chronicling and digitally documenting her chapter’s award winning childhood obesity program.

She is secretary of the American Institute of Parliamentarians and a member of the Bylaws Committee of the National Association of Parliamentarians. She is a past president (2010) of the Texas State Association of Parliamentarians.
